Happy half birthday to my cuppycake! She is officially 1.5 years old! Kaylie just had her well-baby visit and she is following her own petite growing curve nicely. She weighs in at 20 lbs & stretches 31 in tall. She was up to date with her immunizations so she only received her flu shot. She was frightened and hung onto Phong & I, I think it was because we recently pierced her ears and she remembered the experience. She cried during the shot but after that she was back to her normal self. We also noticed she had a tiny blister on the tip of her tongue, which her pediatrician wasn’t too worried about. She said worse case scenario it’s a mild viral infection and should go away soon. I’m focusing on giving her more fluids & making sure she always has clean hands. I gave her a warm bath and she slept thru the night. It always amazes me how easygoing she is even after her shots!
Kaylie is developing her own little sassy personality. She currently loves saying”no-no-no” while waving her index finger back and forth, and say “hot hot hot” to every single beverage that she sees. She is starting to imitate us, I usually go “ah ah!” when she does something she’s not supposed to, and now she does the same to me when she doesn’t like what I was telling her to do. I let her know that’s not okay, and she would slowly blink her eyes and give me a kiss as though she knows she’s wrong. It’s sooo hard to keep on a straight face with her! Her vocabulary is also expanding, and loves to play peek-a-boo. She would also hold up random objects to her ear and goes “Hellloooo”.
We recently discovered that Kaylie loves her rice/soy sauce with chopsticks! It’s the only way she would eat it. I usually shred tiny pieces of protein (usually chicken) into the rice. I also leave small pieces of chicken on her food tray so that she can pick at it. She still loves her fruits, mostly tangerines & grapes at the moment. She’s still drinking her whole milk, but we will work on reducing the amount so that she can eat more. Her pediatrician is recommending about 20 oz per day.
She got her EARS PIERCED!
I can’t express how proud I am of her. I’ve been wanting to pierce her ears for the longest time and finally had the courage to do so. We took her to Piercing Pagoda, a friend recommended them for their gold option as opposed to sterling silver (it helps with sensitivity & prevents allergic reactions). We chose the 14k gold round studs for her. One tip I have is to request them to pierce both ears at the same time. That way both ears would be done. She was so calm throughout the whole thing, and even stayed still while they held it up to her ears. She cried for a good 30 seconds out of shock and after that, she was happy again with her lollipop. We got some antiseptics to clean her ears with twice a day for 6 weeks. I also turn her earrings each time to prevent it from adhering to her ears.
Kaylie is a very sweet little girl. She loves her stuffed animals & loves to give cuddles & kisses. She makes an effort to say hi and bye to everyone that she sees. When she wakes up in the morning, she would sit up and the first thing she would do is wave to us. She is also becoming very steady on her feet and we’re able to let her walk around places other than at home. She is starting to grow out of her car seat, we will probably need to look into a convertible car seat pretty soon! I want her to be able to sit up so that she can snack while we’re on the road. She is at such a fun age right now, we thank God each day for blessing us with the most wonderful baby girl. We love you so much my baby!
